Marbles
2011 Interactive Installation, Marbles, glass pieces, chalk, book, tin, photographs, Carlow IT, Art and Design Wexford Campus.
This interactive installation is about rediscovering what has been lost. Childhood is a time of hope as we lose ourselves
easily in play. It is a time of optimism about the future and when our bank of joy is almost full. As we age life
diminishes this lightness for some altogether.
This work provides an opportunity to relive old memories while in the present get enjoyment from actually playing the
game of marbles once again. Marbles also have a way of captivating us as they are like little colourful worlds in themselves.

The installation also has different memorabilia of times gone past relating to marbles. The aim of the work
is to get lost in play so that you might find even a piece of what has been lost.

The photographs on the wall capture the beauty and colour of these glass forms.
